The Farm
Husband and wife team, Caroline and Shannon Scott were married in 2015 and both share an immense love for nature, spending time outdoors, design and construction, and always dreamt of living a simplified life, growing fresh food, raising animals, and sharing their passions with others. Their journey began with a trip to a local Feed Store, for a half dozen tiny chicks. As the tiny flock grew in their suburban backyard, they quickly realized their homesteading dreams were busting at the seams. After searching high and low, Shannon and Caroline found the perfect property, just outside of Austin, Texas, on a humble 3 acre plot of land. The first spring, the chickens upgraded their coop to a large 10'x16' building, a fully enclosed run was built, fencing was stretched, and more animals came to live on the farm. Guardian geese were added to the flock - a rare breed known as Sebastopol Geese - a magnificent bird, known for their curly feathers, served a functional purpose but also added a truly whimsical, fairytale feel to the farm. Because of the geese and a few other special reasons, the name, Wild Feather Farm was born. The farm is now home to 50+ rare and heritage breed chickens, dairy goats, mini donkeys, quail, a very spoiled potbelly pig, aussie pups, three farm cats and an adorable bunny named Oliver. A huge passion is growing rainbow produce, cut flowers and raising hens that lay stunning rainbow eggs. The garden is refuge from everyday life and stress - to get lost, poke around in the dirt, smell the roses and get back in sync with Mother Nature. This dynamic duo has big plans for 2021! The garden is expanding, and Shannon is building a Dahlia House for all of Caroline's prized Dahlia tubers. They will also be adding honey bees to the farm this year, and fingers crossed a couple of mini sheep to the homestead as well.
The Market
Wild Feather Farm's online market was launched in 2018. What began as a hobby of crafting rubber stamps for her own farm and egg carton packaging, Caroline launched her first collection of stamps, which quickly found their way to the homes of other chicken keepers and homesteaders alike. From humble beginnings the Wild Feather Farm brand has grown exponentially, and we are proud to ship our products across the US, and beyond to many countries across the world! The homesteading community has stood behind Wild Feather Farm, and supported two crazy dreamers. One of the best parts of the business is getting to know each of you - taking part in your journey and learning your story. Each of you helps shape us, and we hope in a small way, we leave a little imprint on you, too. As a child Caroline was always drawn to nature, and enjoyed caring for animals and plants. She learned that the easiest way to express herself was through art and design. Caroline graduated with a degree in Interior Design, and while she still enjoys this immensely, she works in the commercial construction industry focusing on Landscape and Exterior Design. She is passionate about creating beautiful, cozy spaces with vintage, rustic charm. She enjoys antiquing adventures with Shannon, her husband, when they have time outside farm life, which is rare! As a self declared Crazy Chicken Lady, she also loves collecting rare breeds of chickens to add to her flock and improve her ever changing Flock Rainbow.
Shannon grew up in a very small town in South Texas, population approx. 300. Growing up he loved showing animals in 4H and FFA, riding his horse for miles and hours on end, playing football, baseball, running track and when class work was done you could always find him in the AG shop tinkering and building random things. Falling into what seemed like a temporary job doing HVAC/R, he quickly found a career that encompassed all his passions. He enjoys every moment of organized chaos with the animals and project building on the little farmstead Caroline and he has created. He also loves his Aussie girls, Remie and Gypsy, and loves taking them to the lake for adventures.
